a loving father
Mistakes in our lives are inevitable. The truth is that it's not a matter of "if" we will make a mistake but "when." We will fall, even in our walks with the Lord. And it seems that whenever we as, believers fall we immediately begin to doubt our position in Christ. Our mind begins to question his love for us.
This doubt is something the enemy will pounce on! Remember, he is the accuser. The enemy will tempt you to fall, and he will then accuse you of being your mistakes. Sometimes it's not the enemy accusing us; it's our flesh and insecurities. How could God love someone like me? Why would God accept me again after all that I have done? These types of questions will flood our hearts and weigh us down in guilt and shame.
However, these questions and accusations do not tell the story of who God is. We get a glimpse into who He is in the parable of the prodigal son. This son took his inheritance from his Father early. Then he went and wasted everything and lived a godless lifestyle. A famine hit, and the son lost everything. He wasted it all! And at that moment, he thinks of His Father.
He plans to return to his Father as a slave. But in the parable, his Father rejoices at his return and welcomes him as his SON.
When we make mistakes and return to our Father in heaven, He doesn't push us away but runs and embraces us as his children.
Even with this truth, condemnation will often sneak into our hearts and cause us to hide from God. But the voice of the Holy Spirit will bring conviction and lead us to repentance.
He is such a loving Father that He won't leave us in our sin but will forgive us and renew us as we repent. Thank God for His love!
So remember, when you make a mistake, run to your Father because, after all, you are still His child.
