Taking care of your calling
Have you ever wasted a good opportunity? Maybe, while it was there, you got distracted by other things? Or possibly, you didn't see the great things in the opportunity at that moment? I've had seasons like that, where I miss out on the open doors right in front of me.
We so often look into future opportunities that we miss the ones for today. I especially think this is what takes place in our God-given calling. We look so far ahead that we forget to be faithful now.
I don't want to waste my calling, my days, or even my hours. I want to be effective for the Kingdom of God in every opportunity I get. So how can we do this? How can we be sure that we are taking care of the calling God has given to us?
We must be faithful and focused. Faithful in the little things. The things you won't get applause, followers, or attention. All of the things nobody else wants to do. It is the little things that create the character to handle the future calling.
The future calling is great, but we must be faithful in the current calling to be prepared for it. The little things make the most significant difference.
Faithfulness in the little will open big doors. When it comes to your calling, you don't need to force opportunity. Look at King David; he wasn't crying out to be king! He was a faithful shepherd, and God called HIM.
You will waste your calling trying to force it to happen. You will miss the rooms you should've been in when you try to force yourself into the ones that aren't for you right now. Remember, calling is not about who you know or who knows you. Calling is the most incredible privilege we have to serve the kingdom of God, not build our own.
If you rush your calling, you will force your calling, which is not good stewardship of your calling.
Don't waste what God has given you. Stay focused and faithful in the little things, don't force opportunities, and watch what God does in your life.
