Gift receipt

During this Holiday season, what always comes to my mind is how much God has given me. Of course, I am appreciative of all that He has done. I am thankful for my salvation. I am grateful for His faithfulness. He is a good God.

However, one thing that frustrates me is, after all, He has done, what can I ever give back? I want to be able to give SOMETHING to the Lord for all He has done, but I can never repay God for what He has done for me.

In the book of Romans, Paul clarifies what we could and SHOULD give to the Lord. This is what Paul says "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service." When Paul says, "reasonable service," he is saying that this is our rational response to what God has done. We could do the best thing in response to what God has done for us is to be a LIVING SACRIFICE. This is our only rational response!

Ok great! Now, how do I do that? What can I do to be a living sacrifice to the Lord? Well, the answer is quite simple. To be a living sacrifice is to walk in the gift that God has already given to you! So our reasonable response to God's blessing is to USE what He has given us.

Every day, I must say "no" to my old life and "yes" to my new life in Christ! What a good God He is! He would not only give me the gift but allow me to walk in it as a sacrifice to Him. He indeed has provided everything for us.

So what can we give back to God? We must be a living sacrifice; this is our only rational response.
