creating culture.
I can honestly say that I have never seen the world so divided. I'm not saying that it never has been, but I have never experienced it like it is today. It seems like anyone different from somebody else can't get along. The saddest thing is that it's not just in the "world," but it's in the "church." I have never seen so many friendships broken!
The division is the opposite of the type of character Jesus called His disciples to have. Now, I understand that we must be different from the world. We are not of the world; we have different values and purposes. My issue is not that we are different from this world but that we are beginning to divide from the body (the church).
There was a very significant attribute that will set us apart from this world. Something that would make it appear to others that we are followers of Christ. Jesus lays it out very plainly. It wasn't miracles, signs, and wonders, although these things should be evident in the Christian. Jesus told His disciples that the way the world would know they are followers of Christ is that they LOVE one another. Spoiler alert, you cannot love one another and be divided at the same time.
What divides us is often our differences, but we are all made differently. Our differences are a good thing! In the book of 1 Corinthians chapter 12, scripture is explaining the body of Christ. It tells us that each member is DIFFERENT and IMPORTANT to the body. The enemy uses our differences for division, but our differences are there to bless and build up one another. We may be different, but that's a good thing!
If we want the world to see who the disciples of Christ are, we must love one another. Set aside the non-essential differences. Learn to work together and get along. Love is what will make us stand out in the world. You can prophesy, heal the sick, and cast out demons. But if you can't love your brother or sister, then it isn't significant.
We are different parts of the body of Christ but united in ONE SPIRIT. We have different giftings and personalities, but we have one common goal. We want to see the lost come to Jesus!
So set aside all of the differences, love one another, and let's change the world together.
