more than words.
How often do we make promises and not keep them? Not just to others, but even to ourselves. We make plans to start certain routines, build good habits, and develop disciplines. I can't tell you how many times I have said, "I will start working out" -_-.
We will never accomplish much in our lives if all we do is "talk" about what we want to do. We should live life with "more than words" and begin to do what is in our hearts.
In the book of Matthew, chapter 9, Jesus makes a statement that the harvest is ready, but there are very few laborers. Meaning, the opportunity is there; it's in front of our eyes; the sad truth is that not many people are willing to do the work of harvesting. Even today, I believe many Christians are sitting on the sidelines when they should be in the game. Too many are using a lot of right words but not genuinely LIVING out their faith. We need to live our Christian faith out with more than words.
Yes, I believe that we are saved by our faith and not by our works. Simultaneously, if we truly have faith, it will produce good works in our lives. James 2:14-17 gives us a great example of what it would look like to stop at words and never actually do anything with our faith. It's like if someone were to aks say they were hungry, but instead of feeding them, you just told them to go and be well. How sad is that?
Unfortunately, this is how some of us live our lives. We say many "spiritual" words, a lot of things that make us sound or look great, but what are we DOING for the Lord? What are we DOING for others? Are we living out our faith or just talking about it?
Again, the opportunity for the harvest is there but are you willing to become a laborer? Not for status, position, or fame. Not so that others can celebrate us. But are you willing to labor for the glory of God? Are you willing to fulfill His desire to see many come to Jesus?
I don't want to make any more empty promises. I don't want to talk about it; I want to live out my faith. I want to live with more than words, but with action.
Lord, I will be a laborer. Just lead me to the harvest.
