How serve with a healthy heart
I believe you have a divine destiny and powerful purpose given to you by the Lord. I know that we have many gifts and talents that can be a blessing to our local churches and to the Kingdom of God. No matter the differences in our abilities and skills, we are all called to do one thing! We are all called to SERVE. When we are empowered by the Holy Spirit, serving becomes something natural. So why do we get so burnt out? Why do we go through those seasons in ministry where we are bitter and tired?
The most important thing in serving is not what you do specifically but the heart in which you do it.
So if you are going to serve (which you should), make sure you are operating with a healthy heart. How do we do this exactly? Well, I can only speak from my own experience. I have been bitter with ministry, leadership, and serving. I have felt that nobody cared about my service. So what did I do? I gave it to the Lord. I knew that my attitude was wrong, and it needed to be fixed.
However, I couldn't fix it alone. I needed Jesus to heal me.
If we want to serve with a Healthy Heart, the first thing we must do is to allow Jesus into our unhealthy heart. We don't need to hide our dirt from Jesus. He sees all and knows all, so why even try? We must let Jesus see the hurt and bitterness. When we allow Him to see our dirt, He cleans us up! Don't Hide your dirt.
Secondly, we need to let Jesus work. We cannot serve with a heart that has not been touched by God. If we try, we will eventually find ourselves in our bitter state again and again and again. So before you get there, let Jesus change your heart. Let Him work on your life.
It matters to Jesus that we have a healthy heart. As a pastor, I want people to serve, but I want them to do this healthily. Burn out comes from serving with an UNHEALTHY heart.
So if we're going to accomplish the will of God, if we want to serve the Lord, it must be done with a Healthy Heart.
