Doing your best in 2022.

Dad jokes seem to flourish during the holidays. As I get older, I don't even think I say them sarcastically, but I have begun to enjoy them a lot more.

One of the best dad jokes will most definitely be heard all night. As you end a conversation with an old man, they will very likely close it by saying, "well, I'll see you next year!" And it's funny because it's true.

As a dad jokes that next year is just the next day, the truth is that is sometimes how fast the year feels, like only one day has gone by. Think about it, doesn't it feel like we just celebrated leaving 2020 behind?

My question to you is, what did you accomplish in 2021? How many goals were set at the beginning of the year that began to fade away day by day? And an even more significant question would be, what did you do for the Lord in 2021?

What kind of difference did you make? Did you keep your commitments of prayer and devotion, or did those fade away as well? Where would you have been today if you had honored your promises to the Lord?

Most of us will end the year by saying, "I wish I would've." I wish I would've prayed more, read more, took more risks for the Kingdom. I wish I would've been a person of integrity and honor. I wish I would've.

And just as fast as 2022 came, 2023 is creeping right at the door. How many goals do you have? How many promises are made to the Lord? What would our life look like if we stayed committed to everything we told Jesus we would do? What if, in 2022, we took more risks, touched more people, and conquered more ground for the Kingdom of God?

Before you know it, the holiday dad jokes will begin rolling back into your life. We will be setting up our trees and decorations for Christmas 2022. We will have our plans to celebrate the new year all over again. It'll come fast than you think. At the end of 2022, will you sadly repeat the statement "I wish I would've," or will you end the year with a new phrase? A phrase filled will fulfillment and a sense of accomplishment? Maybe at the end of 2022, you will be able to "I'm so glad that I did."
